Privacy

Last updated: August 23, 2026. Throw a Penny is built around private wishes. Your original wish is not placed on a public feed or included on a share card.

What is saved

Your browser keeps the information needed for your journal, penny balances, sealed wishes, and return visits. To keep the same journal available when you return in that browser, the service may also save your wishes, optional clarifying details, generated responses, and related journal information under a random browser identifier.

Generating a response

Your wish and any follow-up or clarification you choose to add are processed by third-party services used to create the well’s response and help screen unsafe requests. Everyday responses stay focused on the wish in front of you. If you choose a Moon response, up to a few recent saved wishes may also be used to notice a relevant pattern. These services receive only the information needed to perform that task.

Sharing

Sharing is optional. The share-card feature is designed to use the well’s short echo rather than your original private wish. Always review anything before you share it.

Payments

Payments are handled by Stripe. Throw a Penny does not receive or store your full card number.

Analytics

Basic site analytics may record things such as page visits and product interactions so the experience can be improved. Private wish text, journal text, payment session identifiers, and your anonymous browser identifier are not intentionally included in analytics events.

Your control

You can download your journal or clear it from the Journal panel. Clearing the journal removes the local copy and also requests deletion of the saved browser-linked copy used by the service.
